LO-FI Skyhut

A VIRTUAL REALITY TREEHOUSE FOR THE 2019 DECENTRALAND GAME JAM

The Lo-Fi Skyhut is a virtual reality dwelling that is the tree house of your dreams. Set against a clear blue sky with a 360-degree porch, there is no better viewing platform in all of Decentraland. Some say that the design is influenced by old adobe architecture, whereas others reference the structure’s Asian-styled tectonic system —— the truth is that no one knows the original origins of the elevated earthen hut.

Recently retrofitted for the contemporary age, the Lo-Fi Skyhut packs in all of today digital amenities, such as two music rooms, two game rooms, multiple open-air courtyards, and a large screen multi-media room. The design maximizes the 32m x 32m x 42m (max height) site limitations while minimizing its site footprint in order to create a public park on the ground level. With rooms derived from a proportional 3x3 grid, each room can be accessed from the center courtyard which remains open to the sky. Each room embraces a different phenomena of light that is experienced as time passes throughout the day and year.
